Melissa Peña Gallis
Chief Talent Officer
Melissa Peña Gallis joined Leader Dogs for the Blind in 2015 as chief talent officer. She is responsible for planning, developing and leading organizational structures and activities related to paid and volunteer human resource functions. Gallis’ responsibilities include organizational development, engagement, performance management, total rewards, succession planning, recruitment and retention.
Prior to joining Leader Dog, Gallis most recently lead the human resources and employee health and wellness functions at a large retirement community. She joins the team with over 14 years of diverse human resources and organizational development experience in non-profits and the public sector.
Gallis holds a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish Education from Newberry College, and a master's degree in Human Resources Management and Development from Webster University. Gallis is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds designations as both a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional. She is also a proud graduate of Leadership Oakland.
