Susan Daniels, CPA

President and Chief Executive Officer

Susan Daniels has extensive experience with nonprofit financial management.  Prior to her arrival at Leader Dogs for the Blind in 2004, Daniels was the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the American Red Cross – Southeastern Michigan Chapter for nearly 10 years.

Excelling in her field with responsible financial management, developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, as well as ensuring public accountability for Leader Dog’s annual operating budget and endowment fund, Daniels maintains sound financial integrity for Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Since her arrival at Leader Dog, Daniels has implemented internal controls, a cost center accounting system, and a budget and financial reporting process to ensure fiscal accountability for the organization. Taking it one step further, Daniels worked to create three separate Board Audit, Finance and Investment committees, to ensure improved and independent oversight.  She has established a Board Orientation Program and is instrumental in developing the organization’s strategic plan.  In her administrative role, Daniels manages Community Outreach, Volunteers, Human Resources and Communications and Information Technology.

Daniels holds a CPA and has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.  She completed the Women’s Executive Leadership Experience through Paragon Leadership International and is a proud graduate of Leadership Greater Rochester and also Leadership Oakland.
