Leader Dogs for the Blind is located in Rochester and Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Polk Residence and Training Center

Home to clients during their training, the Polk Residence and Training Center accommodates up to 24 clients in individual rooms equipped with a private bath, a television, Internet access and secure outside access. The common areas include a fitness center, library, laundry facilities and dining rooms. Leader Dog staff are on site 24/7 to assist clients as needed during their stay.

Kennel and Veterinary Clinic

Our kennel facilities accommodate 310 large dogs in modern, clean stalls with radiant heat and fresh water delivery system. The kennel also houses:

  • a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic and surgical center.
  • a breeding facility with cryogenics lab.
  • open air “runs” where the dogs interact and play together while in training.

Leader Dog’s veterinary clinic, staffed by two full-time veterinarians and two veterinary technicians, provides care for Leader Dogs in all phases of the program, as well as breeding stock dogs and puppies. The clinic’s state-of-the-art equipment, including an ultrasound, digital radiograph unit, digital dental unit, laser and endoscope allows our veterinarians to perform 95% of the required medical care at the Leader Dog clinic.

Downtown Training Center

The Downtown Training Center is located in Rochester, one and half miles from our main campus. The training center provides a safe, comfortable environment for clients and dogs and allows convenient access to both city and residential training environments.
