Making friends, becoming family…
When Fernando met Finn, one of his dreams was fulfilled. "Now that I have this dream, I'm starting to make new plans for my future."
The positive changes that Finn will have on Fernando's life are not just in the future, they are happening now. "People that knew me when I used a cane react well when they see me and Finn. They have become friendlier to me and say ‘Hello" to Finn before greeting me," which he finds rather funny. Fernando has made some new friends since receiving Finn because people approach with questions about his dog - asking his name, his breed, and how he helps Fernando.
Finn has also touched the hearts of Fernando's family. "All my family, my brothers, my Dad, my Mom, love Finn." The Benitez family appreciates the confidence and independence that having a Leader Dog has already provided for Fernando. Finn has become a very important part of all their lives – as much as any other family member.
