Puppy Raiser Events Calendar

The following events provide an opportunity for current puppy raisers to socialize their future Leader Dog within the community. Find out more about our volunteer puppy raising program ยป

  • Meet & Greet Practice with MCREST
  • Tuesday, June 18th @ 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Invited back for 3rd year to speak to the MCREST homeless about Leader Dogs and spend time meeting and greeting. Can help individuals in need outside before and after presentation.

  • Downtown Rochester
  • Thursday, June 20th @ 6:30 p.m.
  • We will stroll around downtown Rochester, working on stairs and loose leash heeling while distracted by pedestrians and traffic. In the event of heavy rain or lightning, we will meet at Rochester Hills Public Library, 500 Olde Towne, Rochester, MI 48307.

  • Step Practice and Obedience
  • Thursday, June 20th @ 4 p.m.
  • Help with step issues and general obedience.
  • Location: Lakeside Mall, Utica, MI (lower level conversation pit outside of JC Penney's)

  • IFT Practice/Viewing
  • Saturday, June 22nd @ 1 p.m.
  • Come observe an IFT and/or practice along with the team being evaluated. Unruly pups may have to wait outside through portions of the actual assessment if their behavior exceeds IFT guidelines for nearby dogs.

  • Lunch and Obedience Practice
  • Saturday, July 6th @ 12:30 p.m.
  • Lunch together to practice settling in large, close group of puppies and discuss raising questions followed by obedience and heeling alongside busy VanDyke traffic.
  • Location: Romeo Family Resturant on VanDyke, east side of 30.5 mile across from old Kmart. Meals from $3-$10.

  • Walk the fair grounds going through the barns, carnival and activity center. Work loose leash heeling through crowds and noise distractions.
