Common Leader Dog Commands
A Leader Dog guides the person who is blind and visually impaired, but the person is still in charge of directing the dog. Here is a list of commands the dog guide user gives his or her dog.

- Down: Lay Down
- Stay
- Come
- Around: Leader Dogs usually walk on the left side of the person. The command “around” tells the dog to move to the right side.
- Forward: Start walking
- Right: Turn right
- Hup-up: Hurry
- Steady: Slow Down
- Straight
- Find the...: Tells the dog to find objects such as the door, chair or curb.

- Follow: Tells the dog to follow a person in a store, for example
