Rochester, MI, March 6, 2008 - Recently, Melissa Weisse was promoted to chief philanthropy officer at Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Michigan. Weisse previously served as the organization’s director of philanthropy.
“Melissa is the most qualified for this position, considering her expertise and background. But, what really makes her great is her passion for the mission. I am very excited to have her as our chief philanthropy officer and I know she will do a great job raising resources for Leader Dogs for the Blind,” said Greg Grabowski, president and CEO of Leader Dogs for the Blind.
In 2006-2007, Weisse was as a volunteer puppy raiser for Leader Dog. She dedicated her time and resources to raise “Mochi”, who is now a working Leader Dog in Spain. Since then, Weisse adopted “Granger”, a retired Leader Dog.
“There are so many magnificent opportunities for people to be involved and to really affect change at Leader Dogs for the Blind. The work we do here enhances lives I see this every day walking through hallways of our residence. I’m proud to work with our donors to enable Leader Dogs to grow and continue to offer state-of-the-art programs for people who are blind and visually impaired,” said Weisse.
Prior to coming to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Weisse was a private client advisor for Christie’s in London and has worked in Washington DC, Singapore and Hong Kong. Weisse is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she was on the Dean’s Honor List, and she holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Glasgow.
