Four-Star Rating on Charity Navigator
We have been awarded a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, an organization that evaluates charities based on fiscal management, and commitment to accountability and transparency. As stated by Charity Navigator, receiving the four-star award “indicates that [Leader Dogs for the Blind] adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.”
Charity Navigator awards a four-star rating to only about 25% of the charities evaluated by the organization.
GuideStar Exchange Gold Participant
In May 2014, Leader Dog become a Gold Participant on the GuideStar Exchange. GuideStar gathers and disseminates information about every U.S. nonprofit registered with the IRS. To obtain Gold level, organizations must go beyond simply providing financial information and complete a Charting Impact report that includes the goals, strategies, capabilities and progress of the organization.
Recognized as a “Best In America” Charity
The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
