Purpose of Position

Assist in maintaining up-to-date contact information for the dedicated Lions Clubs who donate to Leader Dog.

Position Objectives

  • Phone contact with Lions clubs and individuals
  • Update and maintain Lions contact information in Leader Dog’s database
  • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks as necessary

Skills, Qualifications, and Interests

  • Computer literacy; previous experience with electronic databases required
  • Interest in learning to use the Leader Dog database (Raiser’s Edge)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail necessary
  • Ability to complete tasks independently
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable around large breed dogs

The position is a desk position.  While performing the duties of this job, the Lions Database Specialist is regularly required to talk and hear. The Lions Database Specialist is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use the phone, read from a computer screen, and type on a keyboard. The Lions Database Specialist is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

Time commitment and Scheduling

A Lions Database Specialist is needed for a total of 8 hours per week, therefore 1-2 volunteers are being sought to fill this position.  Each Lions Database Specialist is needed to fulfill a minimum of one, 4-hour shift each week during the following times:

  • Monday – Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Each volunteer can choose a recurring shift that works with his or her schedule

Length of Commitment

A minimum commitment of 6 months is desirable.

Location

The Lions Database Specialist position is located in the Administration Building on Leader Dogs for the Blind’s main campus in Rochester Hills, MI.

Dress Code

Casual.

Proposed Start Date

March, 2010

Supervision and Reporting

The Lions Database Specialist reports directly to the Lions Relations Coordinator.  Additional supervision and guidance may be provided by the Director of Philanthropy Operations and the Director of Lions Relations.

Training

On-the-job training will be managed by the Director of Philanthropy Operations.
