Summer Camp Opportunities
Summer Experience Camp
(In Person)
Our traditional, in-person camp will be held June 26–July 2, 2022. This free program combines fun activities with exploring mobility options (dogs!), discovering leadership skills and building friendships with other teens. Campers receive a free HumanWare GPS to help increase their travel independence. They also have the opportunity to learn about living and working with a guide dog.
Summer Experience Camp takes place on and around our Rochester Hills, Michigan campus for people who are legally blind and 16 or 17 years of age, regardless of whether they plan to train with a Leader Dog in the future. Summer Experience Camp is completely free including room, board and airfare.
Virtual Summer Experience Camp
Our virtual camp will be held June 20–24, 2022. Teens 14‒17 years old in the U.S. and Canada can expect an awesome lineup of virtual activities. Campers can look forward to a Q&A session with guide dog mobility instructors and certified orientation and mobility specialists to learn all things related to guide dogs. Campers will discuss college readiness and get to know teens like themselves from all over the U.S. and Canada. To keep things fun and engaging, campers will receive an individualized camp kit filled with fun and interactive supplies they’ll use throughout with the week.
The application deadline is Monday, May 16, 2022, at 5 p.m. EST. Apply here today.
