October 2025 – Future Leader Dog Roo Update
Thank you so much for supporting Future Leader Dog Roo and following along on her journey!
Roo is now three months old and has already doubled in size! She’s nicely settling into our daily routine and is learning quickly.
Roo sits very well at mealtime and waits patiently until she hears, “good girl” before eating. She’s working hard on heel and loose leash walking, and she knows treats come with good behavior. We’re also practicing cues like “come” and “down.” “Come” is progressing slowly with some coaxing, while “down” is still a work in progress.
She’s very comfortable in her crate, loves her mat and knows her bedtime routine well. When I say it’s time for bed, she runs right into her crate and waits for her treat.
Roo enjoys coming to work with me at the golf course. She’s been to several Lions meetings and events, including a Leader Dog presentation at the Elgin Public Museum. She settles nicely on her mat and practices calm greetings with everyone she meets.
True to her name, Roo loves to hop, jump and pounce on her toys. She often sleeps upside down on her blanket — a very (kanga)Roo way to relax!
Thanks again for following along on her journey!
