September 2025 – Future Leader Dog Roo Update
Thank you so much for supporting Future Leader Dog Roo and following along on her journey!

Roo is a sweet, female black Labrador retriever, born on June 1, 2025 (she’s a Gemini). I’m proud to be raising her in Illinois as a member of Lions Club International and a past district governor (PDG) from District 1J.
I had the honor of attending the Lions International Convention in Melbourne, Australia, and named Roo after the kangaroos I saw there — a fun reminder of that incredible experience.
Roo is settling in wonderfully. She’s very cuddly, playful and has a big personality! Her favorite game right now is chasing ice cubes across the floor. She’s already doing a great job learning basic cues like sit, stay, come and heel. She’s especially good at sitting when treats are involved.
She’s also trying to win over my two cats, Ash and Smoke (they’re not quite convinced yet), and she’s starting to join me at work on the golf course, where she’s fascinated by all the new sights and sounds!
Thanks to your support, Roo is off to a great start on her journey to becoming a Leader Dog. I’m excited to keep you updated each month as she grows and learns.
With heartfelt thanks,
Lion and PDG Jeff
