I learned so much from the certified orientation and mobility specialists (COMS) and the other clients. I have been using the new and refined techniques daily since coming home. My first Leader Dog did a lot for my mental health and I wasn't expecting that. I was excited to see what the new dog was going to be—but wondered if he was going to be as good as my first dog—and he is. He's a wonderful dog.
One of my goals was to be confident traveling at night when I lose my remaining usable vision, which is about 5%. I was nervous completing my night walk during training at Leader Dog, but I did it! I even crossed a busy street at night!
