Leader Dogs for the Blind offers a variety of professional development opportunities, including:

Professional Seminar

• 2-day training host by certified orientation and mobility specialists (COMS)
• 11.5 CEUs
• Topics for the pro seminar include:
  • Leader Dog specific programs
  • Guide dog readiness
  • How to work with guide dog users
  • Incorporating location technology into GPS

O&M Internship

• ACVREP approved internship site
• Part of a collaborative team with multiple COMS
• Minimum 12-week program
• Room and board provided 

Practicum Experience

• One on one experience with a COMS and a legally blind client
• Observe teaching in a variety of environments
